Odisha CM flags off special train carrying 1,000 representatives to Gujarat for National Unity Day Parade

Bhubaneswar, Oct 27 (UNI) In a significant step towards highlighting Odisha’s journey from Naxal-affected regions to peace, security and development, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday flagged off a special train from Bhubaneswar New Railway Station to Ekta Nagar in Gujarat.
About 1,000 representatives from 19 Naxal-free districts in Odisha travelled in the special train ,to participate in the National Unity Day parade on October 31.
The parade, to be held near the iconic Statue of Unity in Ekta Nagar, will mark the 151st birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, popularly known as the Iron Man of India. The participation of the Odisha delegation is expected to showcase the state’s progress towards peace, security, inclusive growth and development.
Addressing the media after flagging off the special train, Majhi paid tribute to Sardar Patel, recalling his historic contribution to national integration. He credited Patel’s exceptional leadership and determination with bringing together more than 550 princely states, laying the foundation for a united and integrated India.
The Chief Minister said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had been observing Patel’s birth anniversary as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, or National Unity Day, every year since 2014 to honour his invaluable contribution to the unity and integrity of the country.
Majhi expressed confidence that this year’s national-level parade would reflect the collective resolve to realise the vision of a Naxal-free India. He said the country, including Odisha, was moving steadily towards development under the leadership of the Prime Minister and union Home Minister Amit Shah, supported by the sustained efforts of security forces at both the national and state levels.
Highlighting the state government’s initiatives in areas previously affected by Naxalism, Majhi said infrastructure development and social and economic progress had been accorded the highest priority. He stressed that lasting peace could be achieved through a combination of security measures, improved public services and development opportunities for local communities.
Under the Gramodaya Plus scheme, various welfare programmes are being implemented in an integrated manner across 10 affected districts. The initiative aims to ensure that government benefits reach eligible beneficiaries and help communities become part of the mainstream development process, the Chief Minister said.
Emphasising the importance of national unity, Majhi called for collective efforts by the country’s 1.4 billion people to fulfil Prime Minister Modi’s vision of Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat—One India, Great India. He said unity, cooperation and inclusive development were essential to building a stronger nation.
