L&T bags big power transmission orders in Saudi Arabia, UAE

New Delhi, Oct 5 (UNI) Larsen & Toubro (L&T) on Monday said its Power Transmission & Distribution (PT&D) business has secured multiple engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) orders in India and overseas, with a focus on strengthening electricity transmission networks and supporting renewable energy integration.
The company said the newly won projects fall under the “mega” order category, which covers contracts valued between Rs 10,000 crore and Rs 15,000 crore.
In Saudi Arabia, L&T has secured orders across the 380 kV transmission and substation segments. The projects are aimed at expanding transmission capacity and enabling the evacuation of renewable power, supporting the integration of clean energy into the country's electricity grid.
The company has also won a project in the United Arab Emirates for the construction of 132/11 kV substations, along with associated cabling works.
In India, L&T said its PT&D business has received an order from a leading private sector developer to establish a transmission system in Visakhapatnam. The project will include transmission lines and substations.
“These order wins demonstrate the breadth of PT&D’s engineering and execution capabilities and the ability to deliver complex power infrastructure solutions across geographies,” said Joji Sebastian, executive vice-president and head of PT&D at L&T.
“With the growing demand for grid strengthening, renewable energy integration and associated infrastructure, we are leveraging our technology, project execution expertise and global presence to deliver value for our esteemed clients,” Sebastian added.
The latest wins add to L&T's order book in the power infrastructure segment at a time when utilities and developers are investing heavily in transmission networks to meet rising electricity demand and connect renewable energy capacity to the grid.
L&T's PT&D business undertakes EPC and end-to-end projects covering transmission lines, substations and underground cable networks, among other power infrastructure solutions.
The company said the new projects will contribute to the development of transmission infrastructure in key markets and facilitate the movement of electricity from generation centres to demand locations.
