Education shared responsibility, collective efforts needed to improve schools: CM Khandu

Itanagar, Sep 26 (UNI) Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Saturday emphasised that education is a shared responsibility and called for collective efforts by the government, community organisations and other stakeholders to improve school infrastructure and provide better learning opportunities for children across Arunachal Pradesh.
Khandu made the remarks during a crucial meeting with representatives of the All Nyishi Students’ union (ANSU), members of the Nyishi Elite Society (NES) and legislators from the Nyishi community to discuss the condition of government schools and educational institutions in Nyishi-inhabited areas and other parts of the state.
The meeting was held two days after ANSU observed a 12-hour Capital bandh on September 24 over issues concerning government schools and educational institutions in Nyishi-inhabited areas.
During the interaction, Khandu appreciated ANSU for undertaking ground-level assessments, documenting the condition of schools and bringing the issues before the government. He also thanked the students’ body for its engagement on matters concerning the education sector.
The Chief Minister said meaningful improvement in education would require cooperation and sustained engagement among the government, community representatives, students and other stakeholders. He said the government remained committed to working with all concerned to address issues affecting educational institutions.
The discussions covered the condition of school infrastructure, institutional requirements and other concerns relating to government schools in Nyishi-inhabited areas as well as across the state.
Education Minister Pasang Dorjee Sona, who participated in the meeting, said the interaction was constructive and focused on the condition of school infrastructure, institutional requirements and the need for stronger coordination between the government and community stakeholders.
Sona appreciated ANSU for documenting issues at the grassroots and placing them before the government for discussion. He said lasting improvement in the education sector required dialogue, cooperation and sustained action.
The minister also welcomed ANSU’s decision, following the deliberations, to call off its proposed 48-hour bandh, saying the issues could now be pursued further through constructive engagement and dialogue.
The meeting concluded with a shared resolve among the participants to work together towards strengthening educational infrastructure and creating better learning opportunities for children across Arunachal Pradesh. UNI TD SAS
