Odisha celebrates World Maritime Day, recalls rich maritime heritage

Bhubaneswar, Sep 24 (UNI) Odisha’s rich maritime legacy took centre stage at the Odisha State Maritime Museum in Cuttack on Thursday as World Maritime Day 2026 was observed with exhibitions and displays showcasing the state’s centuries-old seafaring and overseas trade traditions.
Officials and staff of the Water Resources Department and the Maritime Museum participated in the programme, which featured a sand-art display depicting Odisha’s maritime heritage.
A poster exhibition highlighted the state’s ancient maritime trade, seafaring traditions, overseas trade links and navigational practices. Selected historical artefacts and antiquities from the State Museum were also displayed, offering glimpses into Odisha’s rich cultural and maritime past. UNI MK SAS
