Meghalaya HC appoints nodal officer for Supreme Court's FASTER System

Shillong, Nov 3 (UNI) In a bid to streamline judicial compliance, the High Court of Meghalaya has appointed its Joint Registrar (Listing) as the Nodal Officer for the Fast and Secured Transmission of Electronic Records (FASTER) system.
The move aims to ensure the swift transmission and enforcement of directives issued by the Supreme Court.
The appointment was formalised through a notification issued on Tuesday by the Registrar General, acting under instructions from the Chief Justice of the Meghalaya High Court, Justice Revati Mohite Dere.
According to the notification, the Nodal Officer of the High Court will coordinate with the registry of the Supreme Court and ensure compliance with the orders sent to the High Court and to the concerned District Court through the secured jen email domain created by NIC.
“The Nodal Officer shall also ensure that the orders received through the FASTER system are duly communicated to the concerned authorities and that necessary follow-up action is undertaken to facilitate timely compliance with the directions contained therein,” the notification read.
The directive strictly mandates the immediate communication of all incoming apex court orders, alongside prompt follow-up mechanisms to ensure their swift execution.
The pan-India FASTER system is specifically engineered to accelerate the secure digital transfer of crucial court rulings, particularly those involving bail, stay, and release directives. The mechanism eliminates critical lag time between a court pronouncing judgment and the actual physical receipt of orders by prison and law enforcement authorities. UNI RRK NST
