Tripura CM reiterates commitment to revive Kailashahar airport

Agartala, Oct 14 (UNI) Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Wednesday reiterated the unwavering commitment of his government to enhancing the air connectivity of the state.
He noted that, in collaboration with the Central Government, the state administration has initiated efforts to revive flight operations at Kailashahar Airport in Unakoti district, a significant milestone after a hiatus of 35 years.
Dr Saha mentioned that, should the airport meet the necessary criteria for flight operations, it would not only bolster internal air connectivity within Tripura but also contribute to national security considerations.
After a high-level review meeting dedicated to the redevelopment of Kailashahar Airport, which is part of the UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik) scheme, he underscored the dual objective of enhancing air services at Kailashahar while simultaneously increasing the state's revenue.
He inquired about the advancements achieved in the initial phase of the UDAN project, reaffirming that the state government is prepared to provide all necessary support to facilitate the resumption of flight operations at the airport.
Further, Dr Saha highlighted the urgency of constructing a helipad at the Dumboor tourist destination to improve accessibility for visitors.
