Imphal, June 29 (UNI) A series of successful operations carried out by Manipur Police and security forces during the last 24 hours led to the arrest of several individuals involved in vehicle theft, insurgent activity, and the recovery of a significant cache of arms and ammunition.
Police arrested a vehicle lifter identified as Syed Riyaj from his residence at Lilong Chaobok in
Thoubal District.
The arrest was made under Lilong Police Station. Authorities seized a blue two wheeler without registration number, along with a key and an Aadhaar card believed to be linked to the suspect.
In a separate incident in Tengnoupal District, a World War II-era unexploded bomb was discovered
by local residents. A bomb disposal team was promptly deployed and safely neutralized the device, averting potential danger in the area.
Security forces also arrested three active insurgents in separate operations across the state. At Border Pillar No. 87 under Tengnoupal district, an active cadre was nabbed.
A man was arrested from his residence at Keishamthong Maning Longjam Leikai, under the jurisdiction of Imphal Police Station in Imphal West District.
In a similar crackdown, personnel arrested a man at Oinam Ushakhangdabi under Nambol Police Station, Bishnupur District.
Meanwhile, a massive arms haul was recovered from the foothills of Ngariyan Hill, near TB Hospital, under Irilbung Police Station, Imphal East District.
