A driver lynched in Tripura after he hit a tea garden worker

Agartala, June 4 (UNI) Police launched a massive hunt to book the culprits and a missing youth after a group of violent villagers lynched to death a driver on Tuesday, soon it met with an accident in Kalishasan Tea Garden of Kailashahar under Tripura’s Unokoti district along Indo-Bangladesh border.
Police said three persons were in a private car and during a joy ride, it hit a garden worker identified as Logen Orang before crashing into a concrete drain, resulting in fractured legs and leaving him injured. Immediately after the accident, the three occupants of the car abandoned the vehicle and fled into the nearby tea bushes.
Infuriated by the incident, villagers launched a manhunt and eventually caught hold of the driver, Pradip Das (35), a resident of Ratiabari in Kumarghat of the district. They assaulted him severely, which led to his death on the spot. Later, police found him inside the tea bush and sent him to hospital, where he was declared dead.
At night, another occupant of the vehicle, Nirmal Das, came out from the bushes and surrendered to the police. Police brought him into custody, and he said there were three in the vehicle. Pradip was driving, Nirmal was in the front seat, and Dipan Debnath was in the back, who is still missing, police stated.
Police have launched an investigation and are currently searching for Dipan Debnath.
