Storm and heavy rain claims lives of three school girls

Samastipur, Sep 25 (UNI) Altogether three schoolgirls were killed after a huge tree fell on them during a storm accompanied by heavy rain at an upgraded middle school in Chakbedaulia village under Vibhutipur block of Samastipur district.
District Public Relations Officer Rajnish Kumar Rai said here today that the children were standing on the school premises when the huge tree suddenly fell amid strong winds and rain on Thursday.
The three girls, identified as Sapna Kumari (10), Payal Kumari (11) and Gulnaz Khatun (10), were trapped under the tree and died.
Rai said that the administration initiated necessary action immediately after receiving information about the incident.
On the direction of District Magistrate Roshan Kushwaha, cheques of Rs 4 lakh each were handed over to the families of the deceased girls as ex-gratia assistance under the prescribed provisions of the Disaster Management Department. UNI XC RS SAS
