Airdropping of relief materials injured over 12 people in Saran

Chhapra, Oct 3 (UNI) More than 12 people were injured being hit by relief materials being dropped from a helicopter in flood-affected Saran district.
Police said here today that a helicopter carrying relief materials reached Salempur village under Panapur police station area to provide assistance to flood-affected people.
As the relief materials were being dropped from the helicopter, several people were caught in their path and sustained injuries.
On receiving information about the incident, police reached the spot and shifted all the injured to the nearest health centre, where doctors provided them medical treatment, the sources said.
Earlier on Friday, a 59-year-old person, Anil Kumar Singh of Parshurampur village, died after two relief material packages dropped from a helicopter for flood victims fell on him at the village under Amanour police station.
Singh was standing among people waiting to collect the relief material being air-dropped. Two packages fell on his head and chest, following which he died on the spot. UNI XC RS SAS
