Saffron jubilation as Hasirani Rath scripts landslide victory in Nandigram

Nandigram, Oct 9 (UNI) Nandigram turned into a sea of saffron on Friday as jubilant BJP workers celebrated a staggering 1,22,753-vote victory, transforming a constituency that once delivered one of West Bengal's closest electoral contests into a formidable stronghold of the ruling party under Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari.
The scale of the triumph was underscored by the performance of BJP candidate Hasirani Rath, mother of slain party leader Chandranath Rath, who polled 1,64,427 votes, securing 75.94 per cent of the total votes. Congress candidate Milan Pradhan was a distant second with 41,674 votes, while CPI candidate Santi Gopal Giri received 5,779 votes.
As the results established the magnitude of the BJP's victory, party workers took to the streets, waving saffron flags, distributing sweets and raising slogans in praise of Adhikari and Rath. The celebrations also projected the verdict as an emphatic endorsement of the Chief Minister's leadership.
