Odisha failed to provide tap connections to all rural households by 2024: CAG

Bhubaneswar, Sep 30 (UNI) The Odisha government failed to achieve the target of providing Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTCs) to all rural households by 2024, leaving 31 per cent of households uncovered, according to a Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report tabled in the monsoon session of the Odisha Legislative Assembly.
The Government of India launched the flagship Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) in August 2019 with the objective of providing piped drinking water supply through Functional Household Tap Connections to every rural household in the country by 2024.
The Mission was aimed at assisting, empowering and facilitating States in planning participatory rural water supply strategies to ensure long-term drinking water security for every rural household and public institution.
