Odisha DGP asks police to ensure peaceful conduct of student union elections

Bhubaneswar, Oct 6 (UNI) Odisha DGP Vinaytosh Mishra on Tuesday directed senior police officials to maintain close coordination with student leaders and educational institutions and take all necessary measures to ensure peaceful conduct of the upcoming student union elections in the state.
Reviewing law and order and other issues, including student elections, festival security, cybercrime and women’s safety, through a video conference with district SPs and Range IGs/DIGs, Mishra said students constitute a sensitive community and police personnel must maintain regular and direct communication with them.
He directed IICs and SDPOs to hold meetings with student leaders and college authorities to prevent any untoward incident during the elections. Police were also asked to strictly check the entry of non-students and anti-social elements into college campuses and closely monitor hostels, messes, student feasts and other gatherings.
