Opposition trying to protect infiltrators, fake voters in name of opposing SIR: Bihar BJP

Patna, Oct 8 (UNI) Bihar BJP president Sanjay Saraogi Thursday launched a sharp attack on the opposition over the Grand Alliance's (GA) Raj Bhavan march against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, alleging that the protest was aimed at protecting infiltrators and bogus voters rather than safeguarding the interests of genuine voters.
Saraogi said the opposition's protest was “not unexpected” and claimed that it was being organised against the deletion of names of infiltrators, duplicate entries, deceased persons and those who had permanently shifted from their places of residence during the SIR exercise. He alleged that the opposition parties had for years relied on booth capturing to win elections and that the SIR exercise had now disrupted their political calculations.
“Those who have been rejected by the people in elections are now showing political desperation by organising such protests,” he said.
The BJP state president also referred to the GA's march to Raj Bhavan and said the Governor had given time to a BJP delegation, which met him as scheduled. He said barricading at the Raj Bhavan gate and restricting movement was a normal part of security arrangements and there was no justification for the opposition to raise objections over it.
Saraogi said the language being used by opposition leaders reflected their “political frustration” and claimed that the people of Bihar would reject the opposition completely in the coming elections.
Referring to the recent local body elections in Tripura, he said the polls were conducted through ballot papers and the Congress performed poorly, while the BJP registered a victory.
He claimed that the outcome demonstrated how the public viewed the allegations being levelled by the opposition over the electoral process.
