Purandeswari calls for stronger coordination between Odisha government, BJP organisation

Bhubaneswar, Oct 3 (UNI) Newly appointed Odisha BJP in-charge and national vice-president D. Purandeswari on Saturday called for closer coordination between the state government and the party organisation, while stressing the need to further strengthen the BJP’s organisational network across the state.
Purandeswari, who has been assigned the responsibility of Odisha for the second time, arrived here along with newly appointed co-in-charge and national secretary Dr Swadesh Singh. They were accorded a warm welcome by BJP leaders and workers at the airport and subsequently at the state party headquarters.
After assuming her new responsibility, Purandeswari said coordination between the government and the organisation would be accorded priority and efforts would be made to further strengthen the party organisation in the state.
During her visit, she attended an ‘Aangan Ki Utsav’ programme at an Anganwadi centre in Ward 35 under the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation as part of the ongoing ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’.
She also highlighted various initiatives undertaken by the Centre under Prime Minister Narendra Modi to strengthen Anganwadi centres and improve nutrition and healthcare services for children, pregnant women and mothers.
Later, Purandeswari and Singh attended a meeting of state office-bearers, district presidents and district in-charges at the BJP state headquarters. The meeting was chaired by state BJP president Manmohan Samal in the presence of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.
The meeting reviewed the party’s organisational activities in Odisha, chalked out its future action plan and discussed preparations for the forthcoming panchayat and municipal elections.
BJP state general secretary Biranchi Narayan Tripathy said the meeting also reviewed service-oriented programmes being organised across the state under the month-long ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’, which began on September 17 to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday.
He said the party had prepared a detailed programme to organise ‘Seva Jyoti’ events across all 30 districts to mark 25 years of Modi’s tenure as Chief Minister of Gujarat and as Prime Minister.
Purandeswari and Singh are on a two-day visit to Odisha during which they will attend various programmes under the ongoing ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ and participate in organisational meetings, Tripathy said.
