RJD demonstrates, burns CEC effigy of Gyanesh Kumar

Bettiah, Sept 25 (UNI) Leaders and workers of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) staged a protest outside the Bettiah Collectorate on Friday demanding the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar from office. They also burnt his effigy.
Addressing the protesters, RJD district president Saheb Hussain Ansari said that the Election Commission, being a constitutional institution, is expected to function in an impartial and transparent manner. He said questions being raised over the electoral rolls and the election process should be answered clearly.
Ansari said the RJD would continue to raise its voice over the credibility of democratic institutions and the rights of voters.
RJD leader Prabhu Yadav said transparency in the electoral process and protection of the right to vote were fundamental to democracy. He said the party''s agitation demanding the removal of the Chief Election Commissioner would continue.
A large number of RJD leaders and workers participated in the protest.
