BJP begins construction of 11 new district offices in Bengal

Kolkata, Oct 13 (UNI) The BJP on Tuesday began constructing permanent party offices in 11 organisational districts of West Bengal, with senior state and central leaders attending bhoomi pujan ceremonies as the ruling party moves to strengthen its organisational infrastructure.
The ceremonies were held in districts including Uluberia, Asansol, Hooghly, Berhampore, Barrackpore and Kolkata North Suburban. The ceremony in Jhargram has been rescheduled for October 15.
State BJP president Samik Bhattacharya attended the ceremony at Uluberia in Howrah district, while state general secretary (organisation) Amitabha Chakraborty was present at Chinsurah for the Hooghly district office ceremony.
Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar attended the Barrackpore programme, while BJP national general secretary and West Bengal in-charge Sunil Bansal was present at Asansol.
Former state BJP president and MP Rahul Sinha attended the ceremony for the Kolkata North Suburban organisational district near the Belgharia Expressway.
The new offices are being planned as permanent organisational centres, with party guidelines providing for facilities including meeting and conference rooms, waiting areas and rooms for district presidents.
BJP state vice-president Prabal Raha said the party's expanding organisational activities had made it necessary to move beyond rented or inadequate premises.
The construction drive comes after the BJP's victory in the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections and as the party prepares to consolidate its organisation ahead of forthcoming municipal elections.
The move is part of a wider effort by the BJP to build permanent organisational infrastructure at the district level as it seeks to translate its electoral gains into a stronger grassroots presence across Bengal.
