Odisha targets 1,000 crore eggs annually by 2036, offers subsidy up to Rs 10 crore for poultry farms

Bhubaneswar, Oct 9 (UNI) Odisha has set an ambitious target of producing 1,000 crore eggs annually by 2036, launching a new commercial layer farming scheme that offers subsidies of up to Rs 10 crore to promote large-scale, automated poultry farms and boost the state's egg production capacity.
Announcing the Commercial Layer Farming Scheme (CLFY) on the occasion of World Egg Day 2026 here on Friday, Fisheries and Animal Resources Development Minister Gokulananda Mallik said the initiative would increase egg production, meet rising domestic demand and create new opportunities for entrepreneurs in the poultry sector.
The scheme provides financial incentives for establishing modern, automated commercial layer and pullet farms with a capacity of more than 25,000 birds. Entrepreneurs will also receive advance subsidies through a mirror account mechanism to reduce the interest burden on bank loans, the minister said.
