Hero in every sense of word: Ajay Devgn hails Captain Smit Machchhar

Mumbai, Oct 4 (UNI) Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn lauded the courageous act of Captain Smit Machchhar by calling him a “hero” for saving lives of 174 passengers onboard flydubai flight by averting a major tragedy, which could have been a 9/11 style aviation crisis.
In a post shared on X (formerly twitter), on Saturday, the actor wrote, “There are heroes, and then there are those who show us what true courage looks like. Captain Smit Machchhar, you are a hero in every sense of the word. Wishing you strength and a speedy recovery.”
Not only Ajay Devgn, actor Sunny Deol also took to his X account where he lauded his extraordinary courage and presence of mind during the mid-air crisis.
He wrote, “Captain Smit Machchhar, extraordinary courage and presence of mind when it mattered most. You helped avert a disaster and save lives. Wishing you a speedy recovery. Salute.”
Earlier, celebrities Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Jackie Shroff, Vicky Kaushal, Ranveer Singh and Anupam Kher, along with singer Vishal Mishra also commended Smit Machchhar’s valor for protecting and saving 174 passengers onboard aircraft during the mid-life crisis on September 30.
Captain Smit Machchhar was one of the co-pilots operating flydubai flight FZ1073 from Dubai to Tel Aviv. He helped avert what could have been a 9/11-style aviation tragedy by foiling an attempt by his Omani co-pilot to crash the aircraft. Smit's co-pilot attempted to stab him in the cockpit, injuring him severely.
