India Post issues uniform exit rules for Gramin Dak Sevaks, mandates vigilance and past-work checks

New Delhi, Sep 28 (UNI) The Department of Posts has introduced a uniform nationwide procedure for voluntary disengagement of Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS), requiring scrutiny of their past work and conduct, vigilance status, government dues and pending disciplinary or criminal proceedings before they can be formally relieved.
The Ministry of Communications issued the new Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) on September 25 after finding that postal circles were following different practices while processing disengagement requests and verifying the past work of GDS personnel.
The guidelines have come into force with immediate effect and will apply to all cases that are yet to be decided by the engaging authority. Cases already settled will not be reopened. The order has been circulated to all Chief Postmasters General and Postmasters General.

New Delhi, Oct 5 (UNI) India’s cheetah conservation programme reached another significant milestone on Monday with KJP21, a 32-month-old Indian-born female cheetah, giving birth to five healthy cubs at Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh, taking the country’s total cheetah population to 60, including 41 Indian-born cheetahs.
The cheetah was declared extinct in India in 1952, making it the only large carnivore to have disappeared from the country in modern times.
