Venugopal targets CEC over electoral roll row, demands Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation

New Delhi, Sep 23 (UNI) Congress general secretary (organisation) K C Venugopal on Wednesday stepped up his attack on Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, demanding his immediate resignation and alleging that recent developments within the Election Commission had raised serious concerns over the management of electoral rolls and the functioning of the poll panel.
Speaking during the Congress's Goy Rakkhon Yatra in Goa, Venugopal referred to a report in The Indian Express about objections reportedly recorded by Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi on a range of issues relating to voter registration, electoral rolls and the handling of election data.
In a post on X, Venugopal said, “Two Election Commissioners wrote 10 letters to Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, reminding him not to destroy democracy and the voters' list.”

New Delhi, Sep 26 (UNI) The Centre has notified October 1 as the date from which Employees’ State Insurance-related contribution and benefit provisions will take effect in the entire areas of 15 previously non-implemented and 16 partially implemented districts of Gujarat, according to a Labour Ministry notification.
The Ministry of Labour and Employment, through notification S.O. 5310(E) dated September 25, said contributions from employers and employees of establishments in the specified areas will become payable under Section 29 of the Code on Social Security, 2020 from October 1.
