Rahul Gandhi accuses Goa BJP govt of looting people’s land, vows fight against ‘vote theft’

New Delhi, Oct 18 (UNI) Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Sunday launched a scathing attack on the BJP-led Goa government, alleging rampant corruption, the transfer of ordinary people’s land to wealthy industrialists and a systematic assault on democratic institutions. Addressing a major public meeting at the MCC Ground in Margao, South Goa, at the culmination of the Congress’s 28-day ‘Goy Rakhonn Yatra’ (Save Goa Yatra), Gandhi also targeted Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over allegations of “vote theft”, declaring that the party would continue its fight to expose electoral irregularities and hold those responsible accountable.
“We are the protectors of the Constitution. By stealing votes, they have attacked the Constitution and undermined our sacred duty. We will never tolerate this,” Gandhi said, asserting that defending the Constitution was a fundamental responsibility of the Congress and warning that the party would not allow alleged electoral manipulation to go unchallenged.
Taking direct aim at Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, Gandhi questioned the handling of allegations of electoral irregularities and maintained that the issues raised by the Congress could not be brushed aside indefinitely. Referring to the more than 45 defamation cases filed against him, he pointed out that no case had been initiated against him over his allegations of vote theft. He suggested that a formal legal challenge could bring the matter under greater scrutiny and compel those concerned to respond to questions about the integrity of the electoral process.
