India-China border areas 'gets disturbed from time to time' due to actions by Chinese forces: MEA acknowledges

New Delhi, Oct 23 (UNI) The Ministry of External Affairs said today that the situation in the India-China border areas "gets disturbed from time to time when Chinese forces diverge from established patrolling patterns", in response to questions on the remarks by ITBP Director General who stated that face-offs with Chinese troops are continuing at multiple locations along the Arunachal Pradesh border.
MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, asked to comment on ITBP Director General
Shatrujeet Singh Kapoor's remarks, said:
"As we have noted in the past, the situation in the India-China border areas gets disturbed from time to time when Chinese forces deviate from established patrolling patterns."

However, he noted that both sides "continue to use existing diplomatic and military mechanisms to resolve outstanding issues and avoid misunderstanding and miscalculation along the Line of Actual Control."
He said that the two sides have also agreed to discuss ways to improve understanding of LAC in appropriate areas for better border management.
"I would also like to emphasise that the maintenance of peace and tranquility in the border areas is essential for the overall development of bilateral relations," the MEA spokesperson pointed out.
Speaking at the Himveer Samman Samaroh felicitation ceremony in Alwar, Rajasthan, the ITBP chief stated: “In the past few days, a situation arose where face-offs happened at several locations in Arunachal and it still continues."
He praised the newly raised Shaurya Commandos, saying they demonstrated their capabilities during these confrontations.
Kapoor also highlighted the importance of modern warfare, announcing that ITBP is strengthening its drone capabilities, developing anti-drone systems and constructing underground shelters along the border.
A new ‘Strike’ training course is also being introduced to prepare personnel for situations similar to the 2020 Galwan clash, he added.
Kapoor said that countering China through “traditional” means of warfare was a thing of the past and the force was investing in modernizing its weapons, vehicles and border posts.
He said the China front was India's “most difficult” border, and China was a “powerful” neighbour and India’s “biggest adversary,” which required enhanced capabilities to counter it.
