BJP lights 108 diyas in Shimla to mark PM Modi’s birthday

Shimla, September 17 (UNI) The Himachal Pradesh unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday evening organised an ‘Ashirwad Ka Diya’ programme at its state headquarters, Deepkamal, Chakkar, here to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday, with party workers lighting 108 ceremonial lamps and offering prayers for his health and long life.
BJP State General Secretary (Organisation) Siddharthan attended the programme as chief guest, while senior party leaders, state office-bearers and hundreds of workers participated in the ceremony and extended birthday greetings to the Prime Minister.
The programme was organised in accordance with traditional cultural practices and highlighted the themes of service, dedication and social responsibility.
The party workers collectively prayed for Modi’s continued service to the nation and the progress of the country.
Addressing the gathering, BJP State Secretary Sumit Sharma said Modi’s 25-year public life, from becoming Gujarat Chief Minister in 2001 to assuming office as Prime Minister in 2014, reflected his focus on development, governance and nation-building.
He said various development and welfare initiatives had been undertaken during Modi’s tenure as Gujarat Chief Minister and Prime Minister, covering areas including welfare of the poor, women’s empowerment, farmers, youth, infrastructure and digital transformation.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 25 years of service as Chief Minister and Prime Minister reflect his commitment to public welfare, good governance and national development,” Sharma said.
He said Modi’s vision of ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’ envisaged transforming India into a developed nation by the centenary of its independence and called for participation from all sections of society to achieve the objective. Sharma said the 108 diyas symbolised the blessings and good wishes of BJP workers for the Prime Minister’s health, longevity and continued commitment to national service.
Meanwhile, BJP State General Secretary Payal Vaidya said the party had launched a month-long ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ from September 17 to October 17 across Himachal Pradesh to commemorate Modi’s birthday and his 25 years of public service. She said various social welfare and community service activities would be organised across the state as part of the campaign, including blood donation camps, ‘Seva Jyoti Yatras’ and other initiatives aimed at encouraging public participation. Under the ‘25 Years–25 Minutes’ initiative, party workers and citizens would be encouraged to dedicate at least 25 minutes to community service, she said. Vaidya said blood donation camps would be an important component of the campaign and urged BJP workers to participate actively in service-oriented activities at the grassroots level. She said the objective was to promote the spirit of service and encourage people from different sections of society to contribute to community welfare. Those present at the programme included Kiran Bawa, Sanjay Thakur, Pramod Thakur, Prem Thakur, Karan Nanda, Ravi Mehta, Yog Raj and Rajesh Ghai, besides party office-bearers, booth-level workers and other BJP workers. The programme concluded with collective prayers and birthday greetings for Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
