Six arrested for supplying bank accounts in Rs 67,400 IPO cyber fraud in Faridabad

Faridabad, October 6 (UNI) Cyber Police in Faridabad have arrested six alleged facilitators in connection with a Rs 67,400 cyber fraud in which a resident was allegedly duped on the pretext of investing in an Initial Public Offering (IPO).
The arrests were made by the Cyber Police Station Central after the accused were brought on production warrants from Neemka Jail and questioned about their alleged role in providing bank accounts and banking kits used to route proceeds of cyber fraud.
The accused have been identified as Ashish, Sandeep Kumar, Amit, Anurag Verma alias Neelu alias Anil, Shivam Sharma alias Bhola, and Rishabh Sikarwar alias Rishi, according to a Faridabad Police spokesperson.
Police said the case came to light after the victim was randomly added to a WhatsApp group on June 29. Members of the group allegedly shared information about IPOs and the stock market before luring him into investing through an application presented as “Sol Securities.”
According to the complaint, the victim was directed to deposit money into different bank accounts on the pretext of IPO allotment. He subsequently transferred a total of ₹67,400.
The application allegedly showed that his investment had generated a profit of around ₹1.19 lakh. When the victim attempted to withdraw the purported returns, the alleged fraudsters told him that his credit score was low and that he needed to deposit additional money to process the withdrawal.
Suspecting that he had been duped, the victim approached the police.
During the investigation, police found that Ashish and Sandeep Kumar had allegedly opened a joint current account with RBL Bank in the name of Stoic Chemicals Private Limited and later handed over the banking kit linked to the account to their co-accused.
Police alleged that Amit assisted in arranging an office for Stoic Chemicals Private Limited and in opening a bank account in the company's name.
Investigators further alleged that Anurag Verma alias Neelu alias Anil, Shivam Sharma alias Bhola and Rishabh Sikarwar alias Rishi obtained bank accounts from their associates and subsequently provided them to other individuals for allegedly using them in cyber fraud.
The six accused were taken on production warrants on October 5 and questioned by the Cyber Police Station Central team. During interrogation, police gathered information about the alleged supply of bank accounts and banking kits to other persons involved in cyber fraud.
Police are now investigating the identities of other alleged members of the network, the bank accounts used to route the defrauded money and related financial transactions.
According to Faridabad Police, the investigation also revealed that Anurag Verma is facing another cyber fraud case registered at Cyber Crime West Police Station in Gurugram. Shivam Sharma alias Bhola is also facing another cyber fraud case registered at Cyber Crime Central Police Station, Faridabad.
Another cyber fraud case has also been registered against the accused at Cyber Crime Police Station Ballabhgarh, Faridabad.
The accused were produced before a court and sent to judicial custody, police said.
