Panchkula police crack mobile snatching case, arrest suspect; three more incidents under scanner

Panchkula, Oct 18 (UNI) Police have arrested a suspected mobile phone snatcher and recovered five handsets, including two allegedly snatched from a woman outside a bank in Sector 15, while investigators are probing the suspect's possible involvement in three other snatching incidents, officials said on Sunday.
The accused, Sonu of Bhaisatibba in Panchkula, was arrested on October 17, two days after the incident. His alleged accomplice remains at large.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Aditi Singh said two scooter-borne youths allegedly snatched the phones around 2 pm on October 15 when the woman was walking with a colleague after lunch.
The complainant was carrying both her own phone and her colleague's handset when the youths approached from behind, grabbed the devices and escaped on an Activa scooter.
Following a complaint, Sector 14 police registered a case, and a team from the Sector 16 police post apprehended Sonu on a tip-off.
Police seized the scooter allegedly used in the offence and recovered five mobile phones from its storage compartment.
Investigators suspect that the accused and his accomplice may also be linked to three other mobile phone-snatching incidents. Police are examining the recovered handsets to establish their ownership and possible connection with those cases.UNI KK CDS
