Karnal police bust counterfeit currency racket, seize fake notes, printer and illegal weapon

Karnal, Oct 26 (UNI) Karnal police have uncovered a suspected counterfeit currency operation, seizing 250 fake Rs 200 notes, a printer and note-sized paper stock, a police spokesperson said on Monday.
The spokesperson said the counterfeit currency case came to light on September 26 when a Butana police team intercepted a Volkswagen Polo during vehicle checking on Sandheer Road in Nilokheri.
A search of the vehicle's boot led to the recovery of 250 counterfeit Rs 200 notes with a face value of Rs 50,000 and 16 glass pieces cut to the dimensions of Rs 200 currency notes.
The accused, identified as Kuldeep of Sanjauli village in Panipat district, was arrested, and a case was registered under the relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Butana police station. "During interrogation, police recovered a printer allegedly used for producing counterfeit currency and a bag containing white paper cut to the size of Rs 100 notes," the spokesperson said.
Kuldeep was produced before a court on Sunday and remanded to judicial custody.
