UP Tourism explores AI, sustainability & new-age travel trends

Lucknow, Sep 27 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh marked World Tourism Day 2026 with discussions on the changing tourism landscape, emerging opportunities and the growing role of technology.
A special programme organised by the Tourism Department in collaboration with the Uttar Pradesh Hotel & Restaurant Association (UPHRA) at Hotel Dayal Paradise, Lucknow, brought together tourism officials, hotel and hospitality industry representatives and other stakeholders, including Priti Srivastava, Joint Director (Tourism), and Surendra Kumar Jaiswal, President (UPHRA).
The discussions focused on the growing use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools in tourism, along with the need to promote responsible and sustainable travel. Participants also appealed to tourists to protect natural resources and avoid causing any damage to the environment while visiting natural destinations
Jaiswal said that social media and AI are increasingly attracting Generation Z and Generation Alpha towards tourism. He also highlighted the growing trend of solo travel among young people, stressing the need to give special attention to women’s safety during solo travel.
Tourism experts and representatives from the hotel and hospitality sector discussed how digital technology and AI are creating new opportunities for Uttar Pradesh tourism, while also exploring ways to encourage innovation and provide better facilities and experiences to visitors.
Meanwhile, World Tourism Day was also marked through a special spiritual visit and interaction programme for students at Tourism Village Akbarpur (Nagau, Tundla) in Firozabad. A group of 115 students and five teachers from Arya Gurukul Mahavidyalaya, Sirsaganj, participated in the programme. Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh flagged off the group from Sirsaganj today morning.
During the visit, the students explored the birthplace of Neeb Karori Baba Maharaj, the main temple and the historic Dak Bungalow, gaining an opportunity to learn about the spiritual and cultural heritage associated with the place.
Minister Jaiveer Singh said, “Tourism is changing rapidly, and young people are increasingly seeking new experiences while also showing interest in spiritual and cultural destinations. AI and social media are giving tourism a new direction."
He added, "Our focus is to provide visitors with safer and better facilities through modern technology while developing spiritual destinations such as those associated with Neeb Karori Baba Maharaj to connect the younger generation with Uttar Pradesh’s rich heritage.”
