Over 9,200 street vendors get PM SVANidhi support in Bhiwani

Panchkula, Sep 27 (UNI) More than 9,200 street vendors and small self-employed workers in Haryana’s Bhiwani district have benefited from the PM SVANidhi scheme, which provides collateral-free working capital loans and encourages digital transactions, officials said.
The district has so far covered 9,220 beneficiaries against a target of around 14,000.
Launched in 2020 and extended until 2030, the scheme provides loans in three stages — Rs 15,000, Rs 30,000 and Rs 50,000—and beneficiaries who repay loans on time become eligible for the next, higher tranche.
Officials said the scheme’s ambit is also being expanded to cover small self-employed workers, including washermen, barbers, cobblers, painters, flour mill operators, tyre puncture repairers, and small shopkeepers.
The programme promotes digital payments, with eligible beneficiaries receiving cashback subject to prescribed conditions. A credit facility of up to Rs 30,000 is also available to eligible beneficiaries for day-to-day business requirements.
Officials cited Bhawani Prasad, a fruit vendor in Bhiwani, who progressed from a smaller loan to Rs 50,000 after timely repayment and used the money to expand his business.
Rajendra Singh, who operates a cart at Hansi Gate, has also received loans of up to Rs 50,000.
“The financial assistance has helped me run my business better and expand it,” Singh said.
Deepak Kumari of Hanuman Gate, who makes earthen pots at home, said the loan assistance had helped improve her business after she joined the scheme during the COVID-19 period.
SMID official Jyoti Panchal said PM SVANidhi beneficiaries were also being linked with social-security schemes through the ‘SVANidhi se Samriddhi’ initiative.
These include life and accident insurance, pension, Jan Dhan, maternity benefits, One Nation-One Ration Card and construction-worker welfare schemes.
“Ayushman cards have now also been linked with the initiative,” Panchal said, adding that eligible vendors and small entrepreneurs could approach their nearest Saral Kendra for registration and assistance.
