Panchkula plans 125 days of rural jobs under VB-G RAM G

Panchkula, Sept 28 (UNI) The Panchkula administration has directed officials to prepare village-level works under the newly implemented Viksit Bharat–Guarantee for Rozgar and Aajeevika Mission (Gramin) (VB-G RAM G), which provides eligible rural households a statutory guarantee of 125 days of wage employment in a financial year.
Deputy Commissioner Satpal Sharma, while reviewing the implementation of the scheme here on Monday, directed Block Development and Panchayat Officers and other officials to identify works according to local requirements, with priority given to water security, rural infrastructure, livelihood enhancement, and climate resilience.
The new rural employment framework came into force across the country on July 1, 2026, raising the statutory employment guarantee from 100 days under the earlier MGNREGS framework to 125 days for rural households whose adult members volunteer for unskilled manual work.
Officials at the meeting said that 318 categories of work were available under the programme and that gram panchayats should select projects based on local requirements.
Sharma directed officials to ensure that eligible rural households seeking work were covered under the programme and that implementation remained transparent and time-bound.
The meeting was also informed about a provision for a 60-day pause during the peak agricultural season, intended to ensure availability of farm labour during critical agricultural operations.
Officials said expenditure under the programme would be shared by the Centre and the state in a 60:40 ratio, while wages were required to be paid on a weekly basis.
Sharma asked the departments involved in implementation to coordinate closely and focus on the creation of durable rural assets alongside the provision of wage employment.
