Nation to progress towards developed India through spiritual consciousness: Gulab Chand Kataria

Hamirpur, Oct 9 (UNI) Nation will progress towards a developed India through spiritual consciousness, said Gulab Chand Kataria, Governor of Punjab while addressing the inaugural function of Education Mahakumbh 6.0 at NIT here today.
The three-day national event was attended by Deshraj Sharma, Secretary of Vidya Bharati, eminent social worker Banveer Singh, and several distinguished personalities from education, spirituality, science, industry and the social sector were also present on the occasion.
Welcoming the chief guest, guests of honour and the distinguished gathering to the inaugural ceremony, Prof. H. M. Suryawanshi, Director, NIT Hamirpur, highlighted the significance of Education Mahakumbh 6.0 as a platform for meaningful dialogue on the future of education.
He remarked that “Education Mahakumbh brings together India's rich knowledge traditions, spiritual consciousness, scientific outlook and innovation, reinforcing our collective commitment towards building a Viksit Bharat.” He also welcomed the participation of eminent academicians, scientists, researchers and other stakeholders from across the country.
The proceedings commenced with a special panel discussion on “Spiritual India – Developed India,” which explored the various dimensions of spirituality, education, social consciousness and nation-building. The panel featured Swami Tanmahimanananda, Dr. K. Vasudeva Rao, Dr. Archana Santosh Nanoty, Banveer Singh and Professor Veer Singh Rangra, who shared their perspectives on the role of spiritual values in shaping India's educational and developmental vision.
Addressing the gathering, Punjab Governor Kataria emphasised that India's spiritual heritage has been the foundation of its identity and strength for centuries. He observed that spirituality in the Indian way of life extends beyond individual practices and is deeply rooted in a sense of responsibility towards humanity, nature, society and the nation. He stated that this spiritual consciousness has the potential to establish India as a guiding nation for the world and can play a significant role in India's journey towards reclaiming its position as Vishwaguru.
The Governor also underscored the importance of holistic education, stating that students' development must not be confined to academic achievements alone. Education should nurture knowledge alongside values, empathy, ethics, a sense of duty, appreciation of Indian culture and social responsibility. He stressed the need for an education system that promotes the all-round development of students, in keeping with the underlying vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
Several important conclaves and academic sessions were organised during the first day. The Vice-Chancellors and Directors Conclave witnessed the participation of approximately 45 vice-chancellors and directors from universities and higher educational institutions across the country. The participants deliberated on contemporary issues in higher education, institutional development and the future direction of education in India.
A notable new initiative in this edition of Education Mahakumbh 6.0 was the launch of the Startup Conclave, which witnessed the participation of approximately 38 startups on the opening day. Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) were also signed between NIT Hamirpur and various organisations, while around 11 investors participated in the conclave. Alongside investment opportunities, particular emphasis was placed on providing startups with expert mentorship, professional guidance and support to help them develop and scale their ideas.
Providing a platform for student talent, research and innovation, Education Mahakumbh 6.0 showcased approximately 85 student projects. These included innovation-driven and research-oriented projects developed by students from schools, colleges and universities
The first day of Education Mahakumbh 6.0 was significant in bringing together India's knowledge traditions, spiritual consciousness, scientific advancement, innovation and social responsibility within the broader vision of a Viksit Bharat (Developed India). The event aims to promote the holistic development of students while bringing together diverse stakeholders from the education sector on a common platform to facilitate meaningful dialogue on the future direction of education in the country.
