Panchkula voters get Sept 30 deadline for claims, objections under SIR-2

Panchkula, Sept 15 (UNI) Panchkula voters have until September 30 to file claims and objections under the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR-2) of electoral rolls, Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer Satpal Sharma said on Tuesday.
A special two-day drive will be held across the district on September 26 and 27 to help voters update their electoral records. Voters can approach their nearest Booth Level Officer (BLO) during the drive for enrolment or corrections. Sharma asked voters to check their names in the SIR-2026 draft electoral roll and contact the concerned BLO if their names were missing or their particulars required correction.
Those who have received notices due to incomplete documents should submit the required documents to their BLOs to have their electoral records updated, he said. Sharma specifically urged eligible young voters not to wait until the September 30 deadline and to complete their enrolment at the earliest.
The district administration said its priority was to ensure that every eligible citizen was included in the electoral roll and that the revision produced an error-free voter list. The Election Department also cautioned voters against sharing OTPs or opening links purportedly sent for the revision exercise. “No voter is asked by the department to share an OTP or any link,” Sharma said, adding that authorised BLOs would contact voters directly to obtain the required information. He said the SIR exercise was intended to verify and correct electoral rolls and ensure inclusion of eligible voters.UNI KK CDS
