Rajasthan civic bodies repoll results: Congress wins in 6 of 9 wards, BJP gets 3

Jaipur, Sep 17 (UNI) The opposition Congress today won 6 of 9 seats in the 4 civic bodies, including three municipal corporations in Rajasthan, where the results of the last week's municipal elections were withheld to facilitate repolling in 10 wards yesterday.
The repolling was ordered in 5 polling booths of four wards of the Jaipur Municipal Corporation, in one each booth in 3 wards of Kota Municipal Corporation and one polling booth each in the Jodhpur Municipal Corporation and the Suket Municipality of Kota district following snags in technical hiccups in EVMs during polling in municipal elections on September 9 and 11.
The grand old party has won all 4 seats of the Jaipur Municipal Corporation in the repoll yesterday, the results were out today after counting of the votes. This takes the party's seats tally from 53 to 57 in the 150-member House, whereas the ruling BJP's strength remained unchanged at 78 and Independents and others 15.
However, BJP won in the lone ward of the Jodhpur Municipal Corporation where repolling was held at 1 booth on Wednesday. This single win to the ruling Saffron outfit broke the tie (44-44) in 100-member house, finishing the party tally in -- BJP - 45 , Congress - 44 and Independents or others - 11.
In Kota Municipal Corporation where results of 3 booths of 3 wards were withheld, the Congress won one and the rivals BJP two. Likewise, lone withheld poll result in the Suket Municipality has also gone in favour of the Congress.
Meanwhile, the State Election Commission has also announced the poll schedule for the elections of the mayors/chairpersons in the above 4 municipal bodies.
As per the announcement, the election notification for the purpose will be issued on September 18, nominations can be filed until 3 pm on September 19, scrutiny will be done on September 21, the withdrawals can be made by September 22 and polling will be held on September 25.
Meanwhile, number of wards (seats) won by the ruling BJP improved to 4,182 of the total number of wards went to polls (10,244 ). Congress closely followed by winning 3,619. After repolling results Congress narrowed the gap frther at 563, in respect of the ruling party's revised tally. Besides the two parties Independents won in 2,273 wards, followed by RLP(63), AAP(42), CPI-M(38), BSP(19), and BAP(8).
The vote share data also shows the two arch rivals in almost neck-and-neck tussle as the ruling party as per pre repoll figures secured 35.18 per cent of the polled votes while the Congress with share of 34.24 per cent votes had negligible difference of 0.94 per cent.

HP school education board warns 129 state open school study centres for not conducting PCP classes

Dharamshala, Sep 17 (UNI) The Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education (HPBOSE) has taken strict action against 129 State Open School (SOS) study centres for failing to conduct mandatory Personal Contact Programme (PCP) classes for students enrolled in the September 2026 session.
Board Chairman Dr Rajesh Sharma said all study centres had already been directed to conduct PCP classes for newly enrolled students and those opting for additional subjects.
