Faridabad, Oct 27 (UNI) Reinforcing its efforts to curb crime and maintain law and order, Faridabad Police conducted a special weekend campaign from October 24 to 26 under the direction of Police Commissioner Satendra Kumar Gupta, yielding significant results.
The three-day drive led to the arrest of 131 accused in various cases. Action was also taken against 24 proclaimed offenders and absconders who had jumped bail, while 26 missing persons were traced and safely reunited with their families.
A police official said police stations, crime branches and special teams across the district worked in close coordination, targeting criminals, drug peddlers, illicit liquor sellers and those running or playing gambling dens. The aim, the official said, was to curb criminal activity and ensure a safe environment for citizens.
In the crackdown on illegal liquor, teams recovered 50 bottles of country-made liquor, 14 bottles of English liquor and 20 litres of raw liquor. In action against the illegal drug trade, 380 grams of ganja (cannabis) was seized, while Rs 8,600 in cash was recovered from those involved in gambling.
Alongside the pursuit of offenders, special attention was paid to tracing missing persons. Police located 26 of them and handed them back safely to their relatives. The action against proclaimed offenders and bail jumpers, meanwhile, has helped tighten the net around those evading the law.
According to the official, Faridabad Police has conducted 11 weekend drives since July 2026, arresting more than 2,100 people and taking action against 1,006 proclaimed offenders and absconders on bail.
