Delhi Mega Rally: Gehlot appeals to Delhi traders to support "Vote Bachao-Desh Bachao" stir & join in Nov 1, 2026 rally

Jaipur, Oct 27 (UNI)Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot appealed the trading community of Delhi and their associations to take proactive part in the November 1, 2026 rally saying the "Vote Bachao-Desh Bachao" campaign has grown into a nation's fight for saving votes and democracy for all in India and traders should also lend proactive support to it".
The 3 timer Chief Minister and multi terms MP & MLA's appeal to Delhi traders came Monday evening through a statement amidst the demand of postponement of the mega rally at Ram Leela ground on Sunday in some quarters, for preventing the business loss in festive season. The statement is also posted on the senior Congress leader's social media handle "X".
Gehlot said "I am confident that the people of the country have also understood that this fight is not just that of the Congress or the opposition, but a fight to save the nation's democracy and future, in which traders are also included.
Drawing traders attention on the impact that the stir has already made he said "The BJP and the Central Government are so rattled by the INDIA bloc's "Vote Bachao, Desh Bachao" mega rally that attempts are now being made to disrupt the rally by using trade associations as a shield".
When the Congress and the INDIA bloc raise fundamental questions about democracy, such as vote theft and the impartiality of the Election Commission of India (ECI), the Centre, instead of answering, sometimes shuts down roads, the Metro and trains, and at other times gets trade leaders to issue statements.
Traders should not be ready for being used as shield by the government in the ongoing fight and the mega rally, he counseled.
Gehlot said "It is now public knowledge that the Modi government can go to any extent to remain in power. When democracy itself will not survive in the country, how will traders be able to carry on their business ?
"Therefore, I appeal to the traders of Delhi to take a day off from their establishments, to protect the power of their vote, and join this rally of the Congress and the INDIA bloc, and raise their voice to save democracy.
We know it is the festive season, but the message of your step will reach the entire country. The country has not forgotten even today the role played in the freedom struggle by many large business houses such as Birla, Poddar and Bajaj.
As our leader Rahul GandhiJi is saying, when the vote itself is stolen, nothing remains safe : neither your shop, nor your savings, or your children's future. Therefore, this fight is not limited to political parties alone, but is about saving the country's future", Gehlot concluded.
