UP once symbolised lawlessness, Mafia wiped out under Modi: CM Yogi

Varanasi, Oct7 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday highlighted the transformation of Kashi over the past 12 years and Uttar Pradesh over the past decade, saying the state has emerged from an era of lawlessness to become a symbol of development, security and cultural revival.
Addressing bikers and guests who travelled from Vadnagar in Gujarat to Kashi as part of the Bike Seva Yatra, CM Yogi said that a decade ago, Uttar Pradesh was associated with fear and lawlessness.
“Ten years ago, wherever the mafia stood in UP, the land became theirs. Any land that fell upon the eyes of a Samajwadi Party member became theirs. Daughters could not go out after sunset, and traders were forced to live in fear. Riots would erupt before festivals. Uttar Pradesh used to be a frightening scene of lawlessness, but under PM Modi’s guidance, the mafia has now been wiped out,” he said.
