MP Kartikeya Sharma administers oath to new Panchkula Bar body, announces Rs 11 lakh grant

Panchkula, Sep 15 (UNI) Member of Parliament Kartikeya Sharma on Tuesday administered the oath of office to the newly elected president and other office-bearers of the District Bar Association, Panchkula, and announced a grant of Rs 11 lakh for the association's development works.
Sharma was the chief guest at the oath-taking ceremony held at the District Courts complex here. Many lawyers attended the event and congratulated the new executive committee.
Addressing the gathering, Sharma said India's journey towards becoming a developed nation required not only changes in policies but also a change in mindset.
The justice delivery system, he said, had a crucial role in the country's social and institutional development.
“Legal reforms are necessary with changing times to strengthen the rule of law,” Sharma said, describing the judiciary as one of the strongest centres of public trust.
He said lawyers were an integral part of the justice delivery system and played an important role in ensuring access to justice for people from all sections of society.
Sharma also offered to organise a free breast cancer screening camp for women at the Bar Association premises through the “Namo Shakti Rath”, with a focus on awareness and early detection.
The newly elected office-bearers said they would work collectively for the welfare of lawyers, the development of the Bar Association, and the improvement of facilities connected with the justice delivery system.
