Owaisi hits out at Akhilesh over ‘ravana’ remark, cites Muzaffarnagar riots

Shamli, Oct 26 (UNI) Smarting under the criticism of being likened to Ravan, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi has launched a sharp attack on Samajwadi Party (SP) President Akhilesh Yadav, alleging that the SP had always played with the sentiments of the muslims.
Reacting to a statement by Akhilesh, he said, "We look like Ravan. Akhilesh Yadav indirectly shot an arrow at us. Thank you, Akhilesh Yadav. I have succeeded in my objective. I wanted to make you spew venom. Let your words reveal how much you hate a person with a beard and a cap. In your eyes, every Muslim with a cap on his head and a beard on his face appears like Ravan."
The AIMIM chief made these comments while addressing a public rally in Shamli on Sunday evening. He claimed that Akhilesh is not only speaking in the BJP's language, but the spirit of Abu Jahl has entered the SP chief's body.
"Try speaking about someone else. Will you call Modi Ravana? If you call Modi Ravana, the riverfront will open. That entire highway will be built, that file will be opened," he said.
On October 2, during his visit to Rampur to meet jailed Mohammad Azam Khan, Akhilesh Yadav, when asked about Owaisi, said, "Even Ravana disguised himself for a day and abducted Sita, but here the disguise has been in place for years."
However, while attacking Akhilesh Yadav over the Muzaffarnagar riots, Owaisi said, "We voted for them. On this very land, the world witnessed with its own eyes how the Muzaffarnagar tragedy unfolded. Fifty thousand people were displaced from their homes. Girls were attacked, and children were orphaned."
"Those who had lived in their villages and on that land for 100 years were rendered homeless. Whose government was it? It was the SP government. Who was the Chief Minister? Akhilesh Yadav was the CM. Those who are now asking what will happen if 5 or 10 of Owaisi's MLAs win," he questioned.
"I want to ask you (Muslims), your party had 32 Muslim MLAs. Could you stop the Muzaffarnagar riots? You couldn't because you are not a leader of Muslims. You were and will remain slaves of the Samajwadi Party," he said.
Owaisi said that while the poor and helpless people of Muzaffarnagar were suffering in the bitter cold, Akhilesh Yadav was in Saifai, inviting film stars from Mumbai to dance, sing and watch a spectacle. How dare you point a finger at me?
He highlighted that seven women were raped in the Muzaffarnagar incident. The victims were pressured and intimidated. Six of the seven women withdrew their cases, while one courageously fought the case and received justice in 2023.
"Akhilesh Yadav was the CM until 2017 and had 47 Muslim MLAs. Did you and your 47 Muslim MLAs lack the courage to provide police protection to those seven women? When they went to court and gave statements before the judge, you could have deployed police to protect them," he stated.
Owaisi said, "Your relative Tejashwi Yadav also tried to tarnish my image. The people of Seemanchal region have given him a befitting reply. Even when you broke our foundation, we wanted to stop the BJP. We didn't see that you broke our foundation. We were sad; we were angry."
He asserted that the people of Seemanchal were saying, "Owaisi, we are with you. We said we have to stop the BJP. You refused. The people of Seemanchal re-elected our five MLAs. We lost one seat by 370 votes, another by 9,000 votes. We won five."
Owaisi said that merely forming a government does not achieve anything, but it is important to elect leaders who can ensure the rights of the people. "Creating leaders ends the oppression of the oppressor. Creating leaders ends police oppression. Creating leaders grants constitutional rights. Creating leaders can fulfil the dreams of poor mothers", he said.
AIMIM chief said, "What is happening on the Arunachal Pradesh border? The ITBP DGP has stated that the Chinese army has entered and occupied the Arunachal Pradesh-China border, an area we consider our own."
"Modi ji, please tell the country something! What's there to hide? This is a matter of India's safety. How did China intrude on our land and settle on the border of Arunachal Pradesh? You told the country, "No one has entered, and no one will," he demanded.
"Modi ji, don't be afraid of Xi Jinping! Show courage and drive out these Chinese troops. If you can't remove China, then step down. We will bring in someone brave," he taunted.
