BJP MLA Ram Kumar Gautam targets Congress over Kharge remarks, demands apology to nation

Chandigarh, Oct 28 (UNI) Senior BJP leader and MLA Ram Kumar Gautam on Wednesday launched a sharp attack on Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and other party leaders, demanding an apology to the nation over their remarks concerning Prime Minister Narendra Modi's family. He also questioned the Congress's opposition to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, noting that the exercise had been conducted eight times during Congress rule.
Addressing a press conference in Chandigarh, Gautam alleged that Kharge lacked independent political authority and acted at the behest of the Gandhi family. He said remarks directed at the Prime Minister's father were deeply disrespectful and would not be accepted by the people of the country.
Gautam accused the Congress leadership of making statements that, in his view, could create political discord. He also criticised Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi and Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, alleging that their understanding of Indian culture was inadequate.
On the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls, Gautam asked why the Congress was objecting to the exercise when, according to him, it had been conducted eight times during the party's own tenure in power.
He also questioned the Congress's proposed rally in Delhi on November 1, linking the party's agitation to its opposition to SIR.
