Haryana CM hits back at Rahul Gandhi over PM debate challenge, says Parliament is right forum

Panchkula, Nov 4 (UNI) Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, on Wednesday, took a swipe at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his challenge to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for an open debate, questioning why the Leader of the Opposition was seeking a television platform when Parliament offered an established forum to question the government.
In a post on X, Saini said Gandhi, as Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, had every opportunity to raise questions, participate in debates and hold the government accountable in Parliament.
"Rahul ji, why invite the Prime Minister to a television studio for a debate? Parliament was created for precisely this purpose," Saini said.
Taking a further dig at the Congress leader, the Chief Minister said there was one condition attached to parliamentary discussions — participants might also have to answer questions.
"You are the Leader of the Opposition. You can ask questions in Parliament, participate in debates and hold the government accountable. There is just one small condition — you may also have to answer questions there," he said.
"The country needs meaningful parliamentary discussion, not challenges to debate," Saini added.
His remarks came after Gandhi renewed his challenge to Modi for a public debate on issues including the India-US trade agreement, the Adani controversy and allegations of foreign connections.
