Rajbhar targets Akhilesh Yadav over Kashi Vishwanath temple visit

Lucknow, Nov 3 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Minister and Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) president Om Prakash Rajbhar on Tuesday took a swipe at Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav over his visit to Varanasi, questioning why he did not visit the Kashi Vishwanath Temple.
“If you have come to Kashi, why can't you muster the courage to visit Baba Vishwanath's temple?” Rajbhar asked in a statement shared on social media.
Targeting the SP chief, Rajbhar alleged that Yadav had also avoided visiting the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple during his recent visit to Ayodhya and stayed away from the Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi Temple during his visit to Mathura.
He further claimed that members of the Yaduvanshi community in Varanasi perform Jalabhishek of Baba Vishwanath during the month of Sawan and that Akhilesh Yadav was invited to participate in the ritual last year but did not attend, citing one reason or another.
Referring to religious faith, Rajbhar said that one could have the darshan of the Almighty only when God wished it. He asked Yadav to introspect on why he had kept away from the shrines associated with Lord Ram, Lord Krishna and Baba Vishweshwar.
Rajbhar also accused the SP president of focusing primarily on mosques, shrines, Eidgahs, dargahs and graveyards. He advised Yadav to give up what he termed appeasement politics, warning that such politics could alienate Hindu society.
The remarks came amid Akhilesh Yadav's visit to Varanasi and are likely to intensify the political exchange between the ruling alliance and the Samajwadi Party over religious issues in Uttar Pradesh.
