Haryana invites bids for 500 MW solar projects with 1,000 MWh battery storage; bids due Nov 17

Panchkula, Oct 27 (UNI) Haryana has invited bids to set up 500 MW of grid-connected solar power projects integrated with a 250 MW/1,000 MWh battery energy storage system, aimed at ensuring clean electricity supply during the state’s high-demand evening hours.
The Haryana Power Purchase Centre (HPPC), acting on behalf of Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited (UHBVN) and Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited (DHBVN), has floated the tender. Selected developers will supply power to the two distribution utilities under 25-year power purchase agreements.
For every 1 MW of solar capacity awarded, developers must install at least 0.5 MW/2 MWh of battery storage, amounting to 250 MW/1,000 MWh across the entire portfolio. The stored energy will be dispatched during four designated peak-demand hours each day, extending solar supply beyond the normal afternoon generation window.
Developers must guarantee delivery of 2,000 kWh per MW of contracted capacity during these peak hours every day, with monthly reconciliation.
The projects will be set up on a Build, Own and Operate basis at sites chosen by the developers within Haryana. Land acquisition, statutory clearances, transmission infrastructure up to the interconnection point and all associated costs will be the developers’ responsibility. They must also obtain connectivity from the State Transmission Utility and comply with Haryana Electricity Regulatory Commission norms, including those on forecasting, scheduling and deviation settlement.
