The Minister recalled that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu launched the free bus travel for women keeping in view their financial and social position, adding that there is an overwhelming response from women for the free bus travel scheme which was launched on August 15, 2025.

“On average, 24 lakh women travel in RTC buses for free every day, and the scheme has provided financial benefits amounting to approximately Rs 3,550 crore to women so far. The free bus travel for women scheme has played a pivotal role in alleviating the burden of travel expenses on families and providing women with financial freedom to meet their needs,” the Minister observed.

Ramprasad Reddy stated that although the APSRTC bears a monthly financial burden of approximately Rs 160 crore, the government has extended full support for the scheme's implementation by reimbursing Rs 2,160 crore to the RTC so far.
