AP: 1,970 liquor shops opt for renewal, Rs 403.25 crore collected from 1,220 shops

Vijayawada, Sep 18 (UNI) As on date, 1,970 of the 3,652 shops in Andhra Pradesh have opted for licence renewal for 2026-27, with 1,220 shops making full or partial payments and Rs 403.25 crore collected towards renewal and related charges.

With three days remaining before the September 21 deadline, the renewal process has received a positive response across several districts, a release here today said.
Of the shops that opted for renewal, 686 have made full payments and another 534 have made partial payments. Overall, 61.9 per cent of the shops that opted for renewal have made payments.

Alluri Sitharama Raju district recorded payments from all 30 shops that opted for renewal. Visakhapatnam and Sri Sathya Sai districts recorded 85 per cent payment, followed by West Godavari at 84 per cent and East Godavari at 77 per cent. Eluru recorded 75.5 per cent and Kakinada 69 per cent payment among the shops that opted for renewal.

At the State level, 1,682 shops have not opted for renewal, while 750 opted shops are yet to make any payment. The total amount collected comprises Rs 236.48 crore through renewal RET and application fee, Rs 145.03 crore through annual RET and Rs 21.81 crore through permit room RET.

The department is continuing the renewal process ahead of the September 21 deadline, with more than half of the total A4 shops already opting for renewal and collections crossing the Rs 400-crore mark.
