Kerala Assembly to move resolution seeking removal of CEC Gyanesh Kumar

Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 11 (UNI) The Kerala Legislative Assembly will move a resolution on Monday seeking the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, with Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan set to present the motion under Rule 118 of the Assembly Rules.
The ruling United Democratic Front (UDF) government is bringing the resolution amid mounting opposition protests against Kumar at the national level. The Left Democratic Front (LDF), the principal opposition in Kerala, has announced its support for the resolution.
The move comes amid growing criticism of Kumar over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and demands from opposition parties for his resignation.
The proposed resolution is being viewed as a significant political move, with Kerala set to become the first state legislature to adopt such a resolution seeking the removal of a Chief Election Commissioner.
Meanwhile, opposition parties and Left organisations have continued their protests in New Delhi, demanding Kumar's resignation. Several protesters and leaders have alleged police action during the demonstrations.
The Kerala Assembly's move is expected to lend further political support to the opposition's campaign against the Chief Election Commissioner.
