Telangana: Owaisi seeks naming Mamnoor Airport after Moulvi Syed Alauddin

Hyderabad, Sep 22 (UNI) AIMIM president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi has urged Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to name the proposed revived Mamnoor Airport in Warangal after freedom fighter Moulvi Syed Alauddin.
In a letter to the Chief Minister, Owaisi said Mamnoor Airport, built in the 1930s during the Nizam's rule, was among the oldest airports in India and had played an important role in supporting regional industries.
Welcoming the Chief Minister's invitation to the public to suggest a name for the airport, he said Moulvi Syed Alauddin, a native of the undivided Warangal district, had fought against the British during the 1857 uprising and, along with Turrebaz Khan, led an attack on the British Residency in Hyderabad on July 17, 1857.
