Stalin’s remarks on TVK Dharapuram bypoll woman candidate trigger backlash, Vijay, TN Ministers condemn

Chennai, Oct 13 (UNI) DMK president and former CM M.K. Stalin’s remarks about ruling TVK's P Sathyabama during his election campaign in the bypoll-bound Dharapuram last night, has triggered a political controversy, with Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and TVK Founder Vijay and several of his Cabinet colleagues strongly condemning the derogatory, indecent and body-shaming comments against the woman candidate.
While addressing his first poll rally canvassing votes for the DMK nominee Suganya for the October six by-election, Stalin referred to the TVK candidate's political somersault that resulted in the bypoll and said people are calling her as “Petti (suitcase) Bama” and “Balti (somersault) Bama” while questioning how she managed to perform a somersault “with that body”. The remarks were made in the context of Sathyabama, quitting AIADMK and the MLA post and joining the TVK and being fielded again in the bypoll.
Stalin's remarks drew severe condemnation from Vijay who slammed him for allegedly body-shaming and making derogatory remarks against TVK's woman Sathyabama. The Chief Minister also accused him of body-shaming and making inappropriate comments about her.
