Communists led by CPM in India support Maoists: BJP

Thiruvananthapurm, May 23 (UNI) Communists led by the CPI(M) in India choose to stand with Maoists and accuse the Centre and affected states of being "inhuman" in dealing with armed terrorists, former Union minister and Kerala BJP chief Rajeev Chandrasekhar has alleged.
"How can states like Kerala remain safe when governed by those who shield the enemies of the nation?" Chandrasekhar asked.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has set March 31, 2026, as the deadline to eradicate Maoist violence, one of India’s most dangerous internal security threats, he pointed out.
Through intensified security operations, targeted development initiatives, grassroots engagement, and rehabilitation programmes, this decades-old menace that has claimed thousands of civilian and security lives is being systematically dismantled, he said.
Under this decisive, multi-pronged strategy, the Maoist network is crumbling, he said.
On the encounter of Maoists, the CPI(M) strongly condemned the encounter of 27 Maoists, including their general secretary Nambala Kesavarao in Chhattisgarh.
"lgnoring repeated appeals from the Maoists for talks, the Central Government and the BJP-led Chhattisgarh government have chosen not to pursue a solution through dialogue. Instead, they are following an inhuman policy of killings and annihilation," the CPI(M) said.
The statements made by the Union Home Minister, reiterating the deadline and the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh's statement that there is no need for talks, reflect a fascist mindset that appears to celebrate the taking of human lives, the CPI(M) said in a statement.
"Many political parties and concerned citizens have appealed to the government to consider the request for a dialogue. In spite of our opposition to Maoists' politics, we urge the government to immediately accept their request for talks and halt all paramilitary operations," the CPI(M) said.
