AP: Anakapalli Police Bust Interstate Drug Racket, Seize Hashish Oil Worth Rs 5.5 Crore

Anakapalli (Andhra Pradesh), Sept 28 (UNI) Anakapalli district police have busted an interstate drug trafficking racket and arrested five persons, while seizing 43 litres of hashish oil valued at around Rs 5.5 crore, along with a passenger auto and a motorcycle, police said Monday.
Acting on the directions of District Superintendent of Police Tuhin Sinha, intensified surveillance to curb the illegal transportation of narcotic substances, police said.
Based on credible information, a team led by V. Madugula Sub-Inspector G. Narayana Rao intercepted a passenger auto (AP39 X 3211) and a motorcycle (OD30H 5130) at M. Koduru Junction under V. Madugula mandal.
During a search, police found 43 packets of hashish oil, each containing approximately one litre, concealed in the vehicles.
The contraband and both vehicles were seized, and five persons were arrested at the spot.
According to police, the accused procured the hashish oil from the Maliguda and Dabuguda areas under Chitrakonda in Odisha's Malkangiri district and planned to transport it through the Paderu ghat road and Anakapalli to Palakkad in Kerala.
One of the accused, Arun Kumar of Palakkad, allegedly arranged the transportation and provided money to the other accused before fleeing to Kerala. Police are making efforts to apprehend him.
The arrested persons were identified as K. Rajeev Kumar (32) and K. Vineesh (28), both from Palakkad district in Kerala; Kaila Sharath (26) of Dabuguda; Desi Palasi (28) of Padua mandal; and Khila Kamulu (19) of Malkangiri district in Odisha.
Police said Rajeev Kumar had previously been involved in an NDPS case registered at Golugonda police station and had served a jail sentence while Vineesh had also been booked in a ganja case at Thomas Mount police station in Tamil Nadu.
SP Tuhin Sinha commended SI G. Narayana Rao and his five-member team for detecting the racket and presented appreciation certificates and cash rewards to the personnel.
