Seven deaths in one family, caretaker arrested in murder probe

Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 14 (UNI) The arrest of former caretaker Ravindran Nair in connection with the alleged murder of Jayamadhavan Nair, the last surviving heir of the Koodathil family at Karamana here, has brought renewed focus on the mysterious deaths of seven family members over several years and suspected attempts to seize their valuable properties.
The Crime Branch suspects that Jayamadhavan was killed in 2017 to secure control over the family’s assets, with investigators examining a disputed will allegedly bearing a forged signature. The arrest comes after years of investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death and the suspected property conspiracy.
Jayamadhavan died on April 2, 2017. The case, initially registered as an unnatural death, was later converted into a murder case after forensic findings raised doubts about the circumstances of his death. The investigation was subsequently taken over by the District Crime Branch.
